The eighth annual “Water Week Contest”
will be taking place March 3, 2006 – April 17, 2006. In this contest, 1 st, 4 th and 8 th graders from Avinger, Daingerfield, Hughes Springs, Jefferson, Lone Star, Ore City, and Pittsburg, will participate in various contests.

 

First graders have received a 16 page coloring book from the Texas Water Development Board entitled “Know Your Water”. Students will be using their talents on a coloring page that will reward the overall winner’s class with a $20 check for their teacher to use for materials for his/her class. The overall winner will also receive a $50 Savings Bond and certificate.

 

Fourth graders will participate in a poster contest to be titled “Groundwater – a natural resource”. The overall grand prize winner will also receive a $20 check for their teacher to use for materials for his/her class. The overall winner will also receive a $50 Savings Bond and certificate.

 

Eighth graders will challenge each other on an Essay titled “Groundwater – a natural resource”. The overall winner from this class will receive $250 college tuition, a $50 Savings Bond and certificate.

 

Each winner will also have their pictures in the local papers.
