| Guests and committee representatives were
recognized and welcomed to the meeting by Walt Sears, Jr.
By consensus, the minutes of the April 19, 2006 meeting were approved
as presented.
Walt Sears advised the committee that the EPA has now approved the TMDL
for Lake O’ the Pines.
Recent contract amendments between TCEQ and NETMWD concerning Caddo
Lake WPP were discussed. The members were told of Beverly Allen being
the Caddo Watershed Coordinator in this project, as additional funding
was provided by TCEQ for the position.
Sediment sampling at 55 sites performed by the USGS during the month of
August 2006 was discussed by the group. Results of the sampling will be
posted to the NETMWD web site. Additional nutrient monitoring, by Clean
Rivers Program Partners, will be performed at James Bayou, Jim’s Bayou,
and Big Cypress Creek. An update of the first two meetings of the
Physical Concerns Workgroup was given with an announcement of the next
Physical Concerns Workgroup would be held August 31, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
The upcoming environmental flows workshop will be held October 2 –
October 04, 2006 in Jefferson, Texas
Leah Cooper with Lone Star Steel Company gave a power point
presentation on the sediment sampling performed at Ellison Creek
Reservoir. Other concerns addressed in the presentation were spraying of
hydrilla and their findings on the fish advisory given earlier in the
year. Lone Star Steel is trying to get the state agency to revise the
advisory based on further analysis.

Committee
August 30, 2006
Paul Price, representative of HDR Engineering, presented a power point
presentation on the 319h project. Site maps, along with number of
samples caught at each site, was given to the group.
An update of the continuous monitoring stations in Lake O’ the Pines
was next. The locations of the three stations are: off the U.S. Hwy. 259
bridge, near NETMWD intake structure, and at the Lake O’ The Pines dam.
NETMWD personnel will perform maintenance. It was reported that
installations of these sites should begin soon.
Items planned for the next CRP meeting include: a presentation from the
Franklin County Water District on hydrilla containment at Lake Cypress
Springs, the effects of drought in the watershed, an update from Leah
Cooper on Ellison Creek Reservoir, and a report from NTCC on the
sampling performed by their students in 2006 on Big Cypress Creek. It
was agreed that the next meeting would be held during the week of
November 27, 2006, but the exact day and time would be determined at a
later date.
